Chaithanya Mallikarjun

Dr. Mallikarjun (Mal-i-car-jun) is a board-certified gastroenterologist. She joined San Antonio Gastroenterology in December 2023.  Prior to that she was with Stone Oak Gastroenterology after completing her gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at Tulane University Medical Center, New Orleans, LA.

Known as “Dr. M,” she treats patients with all types of GI issues. She believes that your GI tract is a mirror of overall health. Dr. M has a special interest in helping female patients with their gastrointestinal needs. Her mission is to reduce colon cancer by detecting the disease early and educating patients about the importance of screening colonoscopies.

Before she did her GI fellowship, she worked as a transplant hepatologist at Tulane University Medical Center where she provided care to patients with liver diseases. Dr. M completed her transplant hepatology training at Ochsner Medical Center, New Orleans, LA.

Dr. M is originally from Southern India. She is an avid sports fan and is a state level sprinter champion. Now she calls San Antonio her home with all of its wonderful people and culture. Dr. M loves to cook, her passion for nutrition is what originally sparked her interest in gastroenterology. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
