Dr. D. Isaac Gaines has more than a decade in medical training and experience. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Birmingham-Southern College in Alabama. He continued with his education and graduated from the University of Alabama-School of Medicine, where he also completed his internship and residency. He was chosen to be the chief resident and instructor before deciding to pursue a fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina for gastroenterology and hepatology.
He chose his fellowship because he felt he connected with patients with liver disease while he was a medical student. He enjoyed the relationships he developed with people with life-threatening illnesses and the complexity of liver disease.
Dr. Gaines is presently a member of the Greenville County Medical Society, South Carolina Medical Association, South Carolina Gastroenterology Association, and American College of Gastroenterology. He is board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine for Gastroenterology.
Dr. Gaines is originally from Alabama but enjoys the Greenville area for the outdoor opportunities. “I can be hiking in the mountains, riding my bike, or kayaking on a lake, all within an hour’s drive.”
