John F. Cook, Jr., M.D. is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who is also Certified as having Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Cook has been a significant member of the Southern California orthopedic community for over 25 years, serving as Past President of the Western Orthopedic Association, Orange County Chapter, and as Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Hoag Hospital.
After graduating from Bowdoin College, Dr. Cook completed his Medical Degree at the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. During his Orthopedic Residency at Mc Gill University’s Royal Victoria Hospital in Montréal, he sought special training in Hand Surgery at Columbia University Presbyterian Hospital in New York. He then completed a Hand Surgery Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Cook has authored numerous scientific publications and presentations on hand surgery and is accomplished in the field of medical-legal report writing.
Dr. Cook received a Certificate of Appreciation from the United States Congress for “outstanding service to our community” during the Afghan Medvac project. He has participated in the USC School of Medicine’s orthopedic International Children’s Program, and continues to be involved in local service ventures.
On four separate occasions, Dr. Cook has been recognized by his peers with the Orange County Medical Association’s Physicians of Excellence award.
Dr. Cook lives in Newport Beach with his wife and two children.
