Biography:
Dr. J. Matthew Moore is initially from Livingston, Tennessee. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee and subsequently completed a master’s degree in public health and his medical doctorate degree at East Tennessee State University.
Following his medical education, he completed his internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University and gastroenterology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Moore received advanced training in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and small bowel enteroscopy (SBE). He has presented at national meetings and published abstracts and articles about inflammatory bowel disease, deep enteroscopy and capsule endoscopy. He has also been involved in several international trials of new equipment dealing with endoscopy.
He serves as a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He maintains dual board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is also the director of the GIA Endoscopy Center.
He lives in Knoxville with wife Kendal, a Knoxville native, and their three children. Leisure activities include listening to podcasts and audiobooks, being on the lake and fitness training.
