Dr. Melissa Munsell is a Board-certified Gastroenterologist who has expertise in the diagnosis and management of general gastrointestinal disorders. She has an interest in the management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Education & Training
Dr. Melissa Munsell attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology with a minor in Chemistry. She received her Medical degree from the University Of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 2003, followed by her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Osler Medical Training Program which she completed in 2006. She continued at Johns Hopkins for her Gastroenterology Fellowship which she completed in 2009. After fellowship, she joined Southern California Permanente Medical Group in Orange County where she practiced General Gastroenterology with a focus in inflammatory bowel disease. She was involved in training nurse practitioners to manage inflammatory bowel disease, as well as in the education of gastroenterology fellows. In 2015, she joined UCLA Division of Digestive Diseases as an Assistant Clinical Professor where she had a busy clinical practice and participated in the education of medical students, gastroenterology fellows as well as the local community. She then joined South Bay Gastroenterology in 2022.
