Dr. Patel graduated in 1989 with a MBBS (MD equivalent) degree from the University of London. Continuing at the University of London, he completed an Internal Medicine and Surgery internship in 1990. After moving to the States, he finished an Internal Medicine internship and residency at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. In 1997, he was awarded a scholarship from the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and attended the University of Iowa where he completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology/Hepatology with an advanced fellowship in Therapeutic Endoscopy. Starting in 1997, Dr. Patel was an Assistant Professor of Medicine/GI-Hepatology at the Digestive Diseases Center at the Medical University of South Carolina, with advanced training in Endoscopic Ultrasound.
Board Certified: Internal Medicine (1993) and Gastroenterology/Hepatology (1996)
