- Gastroenterology
The field of gastroenterology encompasses many, complex bodily systems, and disease of these systems effect millions of Americans every day. These were two driving factors in my pursuit to become a gastroenterologist as I knew I wanted to be challenged and I also wanted to be able to care for a large and diverse patient population. Additionally, I have always enjoyed using my hands and doing procedures. As a gastroenterologist I am able to not only care for very sick and complex patients, but I am also able to make a difference in their lives by performing procedures which can alleviate symptoms and prolong life, such as helping to prevent colon and esophageal cancer, successfully treating inflammatory bowel disease, and diagnosing and treated gastrointestinal bleeding, among other things. My number one goal is to listen and develop a patient-centered care plan with the patient being a major part of that decision making team.
