Dr. Sudhir Diwan, MD, DABIPP serves as an Executive Director of Advanced Spine on Park Avenue. Dr. Diwan, nationally and internationally recognized as a key opinion leader in the field of pain management.
Dr. Diwan was the Director of the Tri-Institutional Pain Fellowship Program and Division of Pain Medicine at Ivy League Weill Medical College of Cornell University for 10 years, where he also served as associate professor of clinical anesthesiology, and on the faculty for the Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health, the Comprehensive Spine Center, and the Jill Robert IBD Center for Gastrointestinal Health, all at the world renowned New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Diwan has published extensively in prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals and medical books on a variety of pain management topics. He is on the Editorial Board for the Pain Physician – an official journal of the American Society of Pain Physicians (ASIPP) since 2008, and was invited Guest Editor for Journal of Techniques in Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management 2009.
Dr. Diwan is the Examiner for the Certification Board for American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians (ABIPP) and Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) offered by the World Institute of Pain. He is the chairman of the Neuropathic Pain Council of the Neuropathy Association of America, and is a regular speaker for the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists on the topic of pain management and management of cancer pain.
Dr. Diwan is well-known for treating the most complex and challenging cases of chronic pain. Among the types of conditions he most frequently encounters are chronic pain syndromes, neuropathic pain syndromes, complex regional pain syndromes, postherpetic neuralgia, chest wall pain syndromes, back pain, neck pain, failed back surgery syndrome, and cancer related pain syndromes. Dr. Diwan is Board certified in Pain Medicine and Anesthesiology, and he completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital of Columbia University and fellowship in pain management at New York Presbyterian Hospital of Cornell University.
