Professional Statement
Dr. Minas started his practice of ophthalmology in Phoenix in 1969 and is honored to continue treating many established and new patients. After graduating from George Washington University School of Medicine, he trained in ophthalmology at the University of California Medical Center at San Francisco. As a Clinical Associate at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, he was involved in research of uveitis and retinal disease. Dr. Minas completed his undergraduate study at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Minas has served as President of both the Arizona Ophthalmological Society and Phoenix Ophthalmological Society, and as an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has been chief of ophthalmology at St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital, and the Maricopa County Medical Center.
He was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal in 2000 from the Maricopa County Medical Society.
A long commitment to education and training other physicians and medical professionals continues to involve him with residents and medical students. He is proud of treating many blind patients during eight medical missions to developing countries in South America and Southeast Asia.
